Weekly podcast with John Duffy ANDRE ANDREWS
Andre Andrews who served in the U.S. Navy on a minesweeper ship in Bahrain, in the early 2000's. As a direct result of a deployment living in restless fear of the enemy, he developed PTSD and anxiety that lived with him even after his service was completed. He was directed to one prescription medication after the next to cope with these illnesses, but his mental health still declined as he re-adapted to the civilian world. He didn't feel there were many other accessible, low cost programs to help him reconnect with himself and society. As he knows the financial instability that can follow leaving active duty, he has ensured that no veteran or first responder service member will ever be deterred by high costs typically associated with rehab programs and the equestrian industry. Warriors Road is proudly NO COST to all veterans, active duty, and first responders. As a Black cowboy, he has moved with grace in a predominantly white equestrian community to build relationships from the ground up despite opposition and shocking disrespect from others. He never once has been deterred by this and has pushed on, leading Warriors Road with grace and continuing to champion his mission above all else. He truly cares about his horses and creating a safe place for all visitors, regardless of if they are civilian volunteers, first responders, community members, and more.
